Welcome to the website of the Friends of the Cairns Botanic Gardens in Cairns, Tropical North Queensland, Australia.

The Cairns Botanic Gardens are renowned for having one of the best exhibitions in Australia of tropical plants including specimens from Northern Australian rainforests as well as notable species from Southeast Asia. The 'Friends' are proud to show off some of the exquisite plants on offer here as well as provide you with information about our membership and volunteer programs.

Members meet in the Cairns Botanic Gardens Visitor Centre on the second Wednesday of the month (6:30pm). The meetings kick off with a simple BBQ which is followed by a semi formal presentation. The presenters cover a diverse range of topics from month to month.

Presentation: There will a short Extraordinary General Meeting of the Friends on Wednesday June 13 in order to amend the FOBG constitution due to the Gardens name change from Flecker Botanic Gardens to Cairns Botanic Gardens. The EGM will start at 6.15pm in the staff amenities area before the guest speaker meeting begins.
The Friends urgently need a new secretary and publicity officer because of Lorraine's resignation from both posts effective June 30. Among the many Friends there must be people willing and able to take on these positions.
